The attenuation of compressional and shear waves ( Q p and Q s ) has been studied by several authors but most of these investigations were performed on deep buried reservoir sandstones in order to distinguish between gas and condensate reservoirs and water-saturated sandstones. We present a preliminary investigation into the use of seismic wave attenuation as a measure of the geotechnical parameters of the near-surface marine sediments, a little-studied geological setting. A 6.9 m-long gravity core was taken from the continental slope of the Barents Sea at a water depth of 2227 m. The core was primarily composed of brown to olive-grey clayey mud, having a high content of foraminifers and being locally bioturbated. The values of Q p and Q s were determined using the rise-time method at 19 and 18 different points of the core, respectively, and they were correlated with geotechnical parameters such as wet bulk density, porosity, water content, shear strength and C/P ratio (the ratio of shear strength to overburden pressure). The calculated correlation coefficients for all correlations ranged from −0.39 to 0.41, suggesting that the attenuation characteristics of seismic waves could not be used to derive geotechnical parameters of marine sediments. However, with such a small data set it is difficult to determine clearly whether attenuation is primarily a frequency-dependent parameter and consequently not related to sediment properties, or whether the limited number of data points is the main factor responsible for the low correlation coefficients observed. Moreover, several different methods are available for the computation of the quality factor Q , and the rise-time method may not be the most appropriate means of determining the attenuation on near-surface marine sediments. 相似文献

Zusammenfassung Zur Ergänzung der petrographischen Neuaufnahme des kaledonischen Gebirges nordöstlich Stavanger durchGeorg Müller wurde eine strukturgeologische Felduntersuchung vorgenommen.Die obersten Partien des Präkambriums und die metamorphe Gesteinsserie des Kambro-Silurs zeigen zwei Deformationspläne, die sich aufgrund ihrer Altersbeziehungen, ihres Deformationsstils und der vorherrschenden Achsenrichtungen deutlich voneinander unterscheiden. Sie sind daher das Ergebnis zweier unabhängiger Deformationsphasen.Die ältere Deformation (F1) hat mit wechselnder Stärke den gesamten Bereich erfaßt. Ihre Faltenachsen zeigen überwiegend Nordwest-Südost-Richtung. Charakteristisch ist Isoklinalfaltung.Die jüngere Deformationsphase (F2) zeigt keinen ausgeprägten Faltungsstil und hat sich vor allem im unteren Teil der kambro-silurischen Gesteinsserie ausgewirkt. Bei den Faltenachsen überwiegt die Nordost-Südwest-Richtung.Das Quarzkorngefüge hat während der F 1-Deformation eine starke Regelung erfahren. Dagegen hat nur sehr intensive F 2-Faltung zu einer Umregelung geführt.

In order to complete the petrographic mapping of the Caledonian mountains NE of Stavanger by G.Müller, the structural geology was again studied in the field.The upper parts of the Precambrien and the metamorphic rocks of the Cambro-Silurien show two different deformation plans, which may be distinguished clearly by their age, their style of deformation and the predominant orientation of their axes. Therefore, they were originated in two independent deformation phases.The older deformation (F 1) influenced the complete area with changing intensity. Their fold axes show mostly to NW-SE. Isoclinal folds seem to be characteristic.The younger deformation (F2) does not show a typical style of folding. It influenced especially the lower part of the Cambro-Silurian series. The orientation of the fold axes points especially to NE-SW.The orientation of the quartz axes was regulated parallel during the F 1-deformation. Only heavy F 2-folding led to reorientation of the axes.
Résumé Dans le but de compléter les nouveaux levés pétrographiques de la chaîne calédonienne au nord-est de Stavanger réalisés par G.Müller, l'auteur a entrepris des travaux de terrain au point de vue structural.Les parties supérieures du Précambrien et la série de roches métamorphiques du Cambro-Silurien montrent deux systèmes de déformation, qui se différencient nettement par leur âge, le style de leur déformation et leurs directions axiales prédominantes, Elles résultent donc de deux phases de déformation indépendantes l'une de l'autre.La phase de déformation la plus ancienne (F1) a touché avec une violence plus ou moins forte l'ensemble du domaine. Les axes de plissement prennent principalement la direction nord-ouest/sud-est. Son plissement isoclinal est très caractéristique.La phase de déformation plus jeune (F 2) ne présente aucun style de plissement bien marqué et a agi principalement sur la partie inférieure de la série de roches cambro-siluriennes. Les axes de plissement sont surtout dirigés nord-est/sud-ouest.Les grains de quartz ont été soumis à une forte régulation pendant la première phase de déformation (F1). Par contre c'est uniquement là où le plissement a été très intense au cours de la deuxième phase (F 2) que le quartz a pris une nouvelle structure.

The pressure of the reaction albite=jadeite and quartz was measured at 600° C by workers in six geophysical laboratories for the purpose of comparing pressure calibration procedures for the solid-pressure piston-cylinder apparatus. All groups used the same starting mix of crystalline reactant and products and all obtained hydrothermal reversals of the equilibrium. Solid pressure media used included talc, NaCl, boron nitride, pyrophyllite, pyrex glass and crushable ceramic. Various means of calibration were used, including internal standardization by transitions in indicator substances and the piston-in, piston-out bracketing method.There was agreement among all groups—the average preferred value of 16.3 kilobars at 600° C is enclosed by all of the error brackets assigned by the various investigators. This average preferred value is lower by nearly two kilobars than the often-quoted extrapolation of Birch and LeComte's data (1960). It will be important for both petrology and high-pressure technology to test this result in a very high gas pressure apparatus. 相似文献

Almandine, although decomposing in the presence of metallic iron into the anhydrous subsolidus assemblage fayalite + ferrocordierite + hercynite solid solution at low pressures, melts incongruently to hercynitess + quartz + liquid at 10 kb. At pressures between about 12 and 20 kb the products of incongruent melting are hercynitess + liquid only, and at still higher pressures almandine melts congruently. For the intermediate pressures between 2 and 10 kb not investigated a sequence of probable breakdown and melting relations involving the phases ferrocordierite, fayalite, hercynitess, quartz, and liquid is derived through Schreinemakers' analyses.The lower temperature stability limit of almandine in the presence of water at low oxygen fugacities and pressures of 15 to 20 kb lies between 550° and 600° C as at low pressures. It is marked, however, by the breakdown to a hydrous assemblage involving chloritoid and the new phase aluminous deerite. Since the anhydrous melting at these pressures occurs between 1300° and 1400° C, the thermal stability range of almandine increases drastically with pressure. Zusammenfassung Im Unterperm bildet sich mit den küstennahen Innenschelf-Sedimenten der Unteren Pseudoschwagerinen-Kalke (UPK) und über der klastischen Fazies der im hochenergetischen Intertidal-Subtidal-Grenzbereich entstandenen Grenzlandbänke (GB) die Karbonatplattform der Oberen Pseudoschwagerinen-Kalke (OPK) heraus. Ökologische Zonenfolgen, die eine zunehmende Verschiebung zu küstenferneren Bereichen anzeigen, weisen die OPK als Ablagerungen des subtidalen Außenschelf-Bereiches aus.Verschieden alte Schelfrandriffe (Karnische Alpen, Sextener Dolomiten) und die Klastischen Trogkofelschichten als Innenschelfentwicklung im E und SE setzen die Entwicklung der Plattform in der Trogkofelstufe fort.Bodenunruhen mit Brekzienbildungen in den Klastischen Trogkofelschichten gipfeln in einem Zerbrechen der Karbonatplattform an der Wende Unter/Mittelperm und führen zur Ablagerung der Tarviser Brekzie in lokalen Senken.Mit den im W zunächst noch kontinentalen, in den Karnischen Alpen und Westkarawanken aber überwiegend marinen Grödener Schichten und den bei fortschreitender Transgression abgelagerten Bellerophonschichten setzt der alpidische Sedimentationszyklus ein.
Paleontological and sedimentological data of Permian rocks from the Carnic Alps and its neighbouring areas south of the Periadriatic Lineament could fit to the following paleogeographical patterns:The Untere Pseudoschwagerinen-Kalke (UPK) of the Rattendorfer Schichten were cyclically deposited in the inner-shelf area. During the upper UPK erosive activities and source areas of the clastics were changing. Increasing sedimentation of clastics due to the temporary erosion of metamorphic rocks and acid plutonites characterizes the Grenzland-Bänke (GB), deposited in a near-shore high-energy environment with intertidal to subtidal conditions (mega-ripples). The outer shelf sedimentation pattern of the Obere Pseudoschwagerinen-Kalke (OPK) is indicated by special associations of organisms in subtidal offshore areas.On this carbonate platform some knoll reefs of different age were built up during the Trogkofel stage (Carnic Alps, Sextener Dolomiten). Towards the east and southeast the platform shows again characteristics of the inner shelf (Klastische Trogkofel-Schichten).Synsedimentary tectonic activities during the late Lower Permian are manifested by the carbonate breccias of the Klastische Trogkofel-Schichten (Garnie Alps, Karawanken, Slovenia). The components of these breccias are dated as Middle Carboniferous to late Lower Permian. A further destruction of the platform at the Lower/Middle Permian boundary results in the sedimentation of the Tarviser Brekzie.The alpidic cycle Starts with the sedimentation of the clastic Grödener Schichten which during the first phase of sedimentation were deposited as continental clastics in South Tyrol but as predominately marine sediments in the Carnic Alps and in the Karawanken.The increasing transgression during the Upper Permian results in the deposition of bituminous sediments and basal evaporites of the Bellerophon-Schichten. In the south-western near-coast area the evaporites are dominating (facies fiammaza) whereas in northeastern South Tyrol gypsum with open marine carbonates prevails (facies badiotica). The Bellerophon-Schichten of the Carnic Alps indicate connections with the marine Zazar-Schichten in the Save area and with the limestones and dolomites of the Velebit mountains.
Résumé L'étude paléontologique et sédimentologique du Permien des Alpes carniques et des régions septentrionales, voisines du linéament périadriatique, a permis d'en tracér une equisse paléogéographique. - Les Untere Pseudoschwagerinen-Kalke (UPK) qui marquent le début des Rattendorfer Schichten, constituent une sédimentation cyclique de nature littorale, à laquelle succède, à la suite d'une activité érosive intense, les Grenzlandbänke (GB) caractérisés par un facies clastique de haute énergie, avec, dans ce dernier, des intervalles où apparaissent des roches métamorphiques et des roches plutoniques acides. Ce milieu, parcouru par des courants instables, nous indique un domaine mitoyen» subtidal-intertidal «(méga-ripples), à labase des marées. Des faunes et flores, variées et abondantes, sont distribuées dans une succession de zones écologiques de plus en plus distantes de la côte. Les Obere Pseudoschwagerinen-Kalke (OPK), déposés ensuite, se sont donc formés sur le plateau continental extérieur à caractère subtidal.Sur cette plate-forme à formations carbonatées, et au cours de l'étage de Trogkofel, des récifs ont pu s'installer, tandis que l'E et le SW de la plate-forme, plus rapprochés de la côte, ont reçu une sédimentation clastique (Klastische Trogkofelschichten). — Les mouvements de la fin du Permien inférieur se sont traduits par des brèches intercalées dans les Klastische Trogkofelschichten; des fragments de roches du Carbonifère moyen (étage de Moscow) sont inclus dans ces brèches. Enfin cette tendance arrive à son comble à la limite Permien inférieur/Permien moyen, lorsque la plateforme se désintègre avec formation de la Taviser Brekzie dans des effondrements local.Le cycle de sédimentation alpin débute par les Grödener Schichten — encore terrestres à l'Ouest, mais surtout marines dans les Alpes carniques et les Karawanken occidentales — et par les Bellerophonschichten marquant une mer en transgression.

Bicyclanes previously reported only in heavily biodegraded Texas Gulf Coast crudes have been found to be ubiquitous in Australian crude oils of non-marine origin from four different basins. The compounds are present in oils, thought to be derived from the same or similar sources, that have undergone varying degrees of biodegradation. They are also found to be present in oils of different geological age. In addition a series of tricyclic diterpenoid hydrocarbons was common to four oils from the Gippsland Basin. Four of these compounds had the molecular formula C20H34 and mass spectral fragmentation patterns suggested they were mono-unsaturated diterpenoids. The presence of unsaturated diterpenoids in crude oils appears to be a unique observation. It is proposed that the diterpenoids may be the source of the bicyclanes also observed in these oils. 相似文献
